Searching for the Kingdom of Heaven

I think every person at least once in his life wondered: “Where to look for the Kingdom of Heaven?”. Millions of people believe that you can get there only through faith and religion, and the path leads through the arches of temples and monasteries, through the pages of holy books and scriptures. One simple warrior from the movie “Kingdom of Heaven” said: “Holiness is in your deeds and actions. In protection and help to those who need it, and in mercy. After all, it depends only on your decisions whether you are pious or not! ” My advice to you: go to Jerusalem – and perhaps there your heart will open for you a path, the existence of which you did not even realize! An order has been given to set fire to the gate, archers pull the bowstring – and burning arrows rush to the target. But it is inconvenient to shoot in the narrow streets, and the arrow of one warrior, flying over the wall, falls into the temple window, right into the wooden casing of Lebanese cedar. Soon, the whole building was blazing in fire and burning. It happened in the year 70 A.D. e., or on the ninth day of the month av. Coincidence or not, but on this day in 587 BC. e. the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II captured Jerusalem and burned the First Temple, built by King Solomon. The Romans destroyed the Second Temple, rebuilt by King Herod, thereby mentioned in the Gospel of Matthew as a villain, who ordered the destruction of all male babies in Bethlehem. He really killed his three sons and his beloved wife, as Josephus and other ancient historians wrote about. But the fact that Herod killed other people’s babies, they did not record. If this happened, the people would surely raise a rebellion. I have already been to the ancient ruins of the fortified cities of Caesarea and Masada, built by order of King Herod. Now I’m standing by one of his children, but “it’s not customary to talk about it out loud,” since this is the main shrine of the Jews – the Wailing Wall. Many people who read the Holy Scriptures still consider Herod to be the Antichrist, but nevertheless they thrust notes with a thrill in his wall asking for help! Paradox? Jerusalem, as a city and center of three religions, is already a continuous paradox. Survive forty sieges and at the same time survive for three and a half millennia! Now security is at its best: to get to the square against the legendary wall, I went through a small “purgatory” – several posts and a metal detector. Who knows what my intentions are: good, evil? Different people tend to Jerusalem: tourists, pilgrims, sometimes crazy. In 1969, a 28-year-old resident of Australia set fire to al-Aqsa Mosque, as he considered it the refuge of Satan. As, however, the crusaders, who, during the assault on Jerusalem in 1099, staged a real massacre in it, cutting out 10 thousand ordinary Muslims who took refuge there. Later, the Templar Order turned the Al-Aqsa Mosque into its residence, the church of Dominos Solomonus, but after a while the Sultan Saladin returned it to the Muslims. I walk across the square to the Wailing Wall. Perhaps it was at these walls that the fatal arrow was fired, which incinerated the Temple? But before the assault, the Roman commander Titus ordered him not to be destroyed. How can one not recall the prophetic appeal of Jesus Christ to the apostles who admired the Jerusalem temple: “See this great building? All of it will be destroyed, there will not be stone upon stone! ” But still, part of the wall, even the retaining one, was preserved. The Talmudic tradition says that when the Temple was destroyed, all the Heavenly Gates, except for one, the Gate of Tears, were closed, and the western wall, remaining from the building, was called the Wailing Wall, since the tears of all Jews mourning their Temple shed here. By the way, this wall, like the Temple Mount, is sacred for Muslims. They call it the Wall of Burak, believing that the prophet Muhammad tied his horse Burak to her during a night trip from Mecca to Jerusalem. According to the 17th sura of the Qur’an, Muhammad was raised from a rock to the sky. At this place is a beautiful mosque Dome of the Rock with a magnificent golden dome. She is one of the main symbols of Jerusalem. Inside it, a wooden railing encloses the rock from which the prophet ascended. It is believed that it was to this stone that Abraham brought his beloved son Isaac to sacrifice him to God …
